Few pen shapes are as instantly recognisable as the Sailor 1911. The Sailor 1911S Maroon ball pen takes that classic torpedo silhouette and dresses it in a rich maroon resin with gold plated trim. The result is a timeless, old-world look that feels right at home next to a leather diary and a cup of filter coffee.

A shape with history

Sailor was founded in Japan in 1911, and its flagship design carries the year proudly in its name. Rounded ends, a balanced profile and polished gold fittings have made the 1911 a favourite with fountain pen users for decades. The 1911S ball pen brings the same design language to a practical ballpoint, so you get the heritage look without needing to fill ink.

Slim and light

This model is noticeably slender, with a barrel diameter of just 9.5mm. It’s 134mm long and weighs 21g. That makes it well suited to people who prefer a slimmer grip, and it slips easily into a jacket’s inner pocket or a diary’s pen loop.

Twist to write

A gentle twist of the barrel extends the refill. There’s no cap and no click, just a smooth, quiet action that feels refined in a meeting or at a signing.

Maroon and gold: a classic pairing

Deep maroon with gold trim has a traditional, celebratory warmth to it. It’s a lovely choice for a father, a senior colleague, a doctor or a professor, and it makes a memorable gift for weddings and anniversaries.
