Introducing the Wancher Sekai Aizu Urushi Fountain Pen, exclusively available at Makoba. This exquisite fountain pen is a symbol of connection and peace, inspired by the World Tree found in various mythologies. Crafted with precision and artistry, this collection aims to connect the world through its exceptional craftsmanship.

Carefully selected from natural precious woods such as Ebony and Sandalwood, the base materials of this fountain pen are further enhanced with traditional Japanese arts like Urushi and Maki-e. Each piece is adorned with a high-quality Japanese Sterling Silver clip, adding an elegant touch to its design. The Aizu Urushi technique used in creating these pens originates from Fukushima, Japana region known for heavy snowfallswith a history spanning over 9000 years.

Every Sekai Aizu Urushi fountain pen undergoes meticulous hand-painting using Suki-Urushi (translucent) by skilled craftsmen with extensive experience. Over time, the raw urushi develops into a more transparent finish that allows you to appreciate the natural beauty of wood underneath. Embracing Wabi-sabi aestheticsthe acceptance of imperfectioneach Sekai Urushi fountain pen showcases unique characteristics including minor roughness or uneven spots on its body as an inherent part of its allure.

In Japanese aesthetics, Wabi-sabi refers to the acceptance of imperfection or also called “wisdom in natural simplicity”. This what you will find in our Sekai Urushi fountain pen. The natural imperfection of Urushi and wood might appear on the body of fountain pen as minor roughness or uneven spots. With the appreciation of natural materials, our artisans intended not to remove this “flawed beauty” but instead spent many months on meticulous coating to achieve the most shiny and elegant art that can last for life.

And because of this Wabi-sabi concept, the Sekai Urushi fountain pen is different from one to another so we call it a one-of-a-kind fountain pen.
