The Tsubame W3005 is the roomy 8mm version of Tsubame’s 100-page semi B5 notebook: plenty of paper, wide comfortable lines and the smooth Fools paper that made Tsubame Note a household name among Japanese students.

Key highlights

• Ruling: 8mm A-ruled
• Paper: Tsubame Fools paper, 81.4gsm
• Binding: threadbound
• Made in: Japan

Room for broad nibs

With 8mm A-ruling and around 28 lines per page, the W3005 gives medium, broad and stub nibs the space they need. Bigger handwriting looks relaxed rather than cramped, and shading or sheening inks have room to show off.

The paper is the point

Tsubame Note has been making notebooks in Japan for decades, and the W3005 carries its signature Fools paper: smooth enough for effortless writing, firm enough that inks sit on the surface instead of spreading into the fibres.

Thread binding and classic cover

Sewn with thread, the W3005 lies open easily for writing across both pages. Its timeless cover design has barely changed in years, a quiet sign of how well the formula works.
