Why the Preppy is so loved

The Preppy has introduced millions of people to fountain pens. It is light, affordable and remarkably reliable, thanks to Platinum’s Slip & Seal cap, which stops the nib drying out between uses. It writes smoothly straight from the box, making it the perfect first fountain pen or a dependable spare.

What makes the Black Edition different

The standard Preppy comes in clear, colourful bodies. The Black Edition drops the colour for a sleek, monochrome look, with just a small coloured logo to show which nib is inside. It is a limited run, so it is a fun piece for Preppy fans and collectors as well as a smart everyday pen.

Choose your nib

• EF (02), orange logo: very fine, for small handwriting and planners
• F (03), white logo: the everyday all-rounder
• M (05), yellow logo: a bolder, smoother line

Filling options

The Preppy uses Platinum cartridges, and one black cartridge is included. For bottled ink, add a Platinum converter (sold separately). The Preppy can even be converted to an eyedropper pen, holding about 4.3ml of ink.
