Why choose Coal Grey?

Coal Grey is a cool, industrial shade that works in any office. Gunmetal trim keeps it modern and discreet, and the clear body lets dark blues and blacks take centre stage.

How the Lock-It piston works

To fill the Coal Grey MP1, unlock the piston knob, dip the nib in ink and turn the knob to draw it up into the barrel. When you are done, the Lock-It catch of the Coal Grey pen holds the knob in place so it cannot be turned by accident. Because the whole barrel of the Coal Grey MP1 is the ink chamber, it holds around 2ml, far more than a standard converter.

A German nib for every hand

Monteverde fits the Coal Grey MP1 with a #6 stainless steel nib from JoWo in Germany, on a plasma-treated feed for consistent flow. Choose your Coal Grey MP1 in Extra Fine to Broad, a 1.1 stub for italic-style lettering, or Omniflex, a soft, flexible steel nib that gives line variation with gentle pressure.

Frequently asked questions

Can the Coal Grey MP1 use cartridges?

No, the Coal Grey MP1 is a piston filler and fills directly from bottled ink, which is why a 15ml bottle is included.

How much ink does the Coal Grey MP1 hold?

Roughly 2ml, enough for many days of writing with your Coal Grey MP1.

What is Omniflex on the Coal Grey MP1?

Omniflex is Monteverde’s flexible steel nib option for the Coal Grey MP1, giving expressive, varied lines.
