Inspired by the 1920s

The name ‘Drehgriffel’ means ‘twist grip’, and the Sunflower Drehgriffel gel pen looks back to a twist pen of the 1920s: here, aluminium and brass are precision-milled into a slim hexagonal form that feels cool, solid and pleasantly minimal in the hand.

Writing with the Sunflower gel pen

A smooth twist brings the tip forward. The 0.5mm refill in the Sunflower gel pen uses a black gel ink developed in Japan and a ceramic ball, giving a fine, dark, consistent line that glides with very little pressure. The Sunflower pen takes standard G2-format refills, so you can also fit a Leuchtturm1917 Flow ballpoint refill if you prefer.

Why Sunflower?

Sunflower turns an everyday gel pen into a small burst of sunshine. The golden-yellow barrel is a cheerful counterpoint to its sharp black writing.

Sunflower is part of Leuchtturm1917’s 2026 colour collection, so the Sunflower Drehgriffel gel pen can be matched with notebooks and planners in the same shade.

A thoughtful gift

Compact, beautifully made and clipless, the Sunflower Drehgriffel gel pen slips into a notebook pen loop, pencil case or shirt pocket. Pair the Sunflower Drehgriffel gel pen with a Leuchtturm1917 notebook for a gift that feels personal and practical.
