If you have ever wished your little Kaweco Sport could hold more ink, this is the pen you have been waiting for. The Kaweco Piston AL Sport fountain pen in Navy Blue with gold trim puts a built-in piston filler inside the famous pocket-sized aluminium Sport, and it comes as a starter set with a 32ml bottle of Kaweco Royal Blue ink.

Why a piston filler?

Most pocket pens rely on small cartridges. A piston filler lets you draw ink straight from a bottle by twisting the end of the pen, so you can use any fountain pen ink you like and refill in seconds. It holds roughly 1.25ml, and a small ink window lets you see when it is time for a top-up. It is cleaner, more economical and far more fun than buying cartridges.

Navy and gold: a timeless pairing

The anodised aluminium body comes in a deep, sophisticated navy, finished with gold-tone trim and a gold-plated stainless steel nib. It is classic enough for the boardroom and charming enough for a weekend journal.

Features at a glance

• Anodised aluminium body, octagonal Sport cap
• Built-in piston filler with ink window, about 1.25ml
• Gold-plated steel nib on Kaweco’s interchangeable unit: EF, F, M, B or BB
• 103mm closed, about 127mm with the cap posted
• About 22g, light yet reassuringly metal
• Clip fitted to the cap, removable if you prefer a clean look
• Comes in a round tin with a 32ml bottle of Royal Blue ink

Who is it for?

New fountain pen users who want to start with bottled ink, Kaweco Sport fans upgrading their collection, and anyone looking for a ready-to-write fountain pen gift set. Everything needed to start writing is in the box.

How to fill a piston pen

Twist the end knob anticlockwise to lower the piston, dip the whole nib into the ink bottle, then twist clockwise to draw ink up. Hold the pen nib-up and turn the knob a fraction to release a drop back into the bottle, wipe the nib, and you are ready. With a little practice it takes less than a minute.
