Hobonichi Techo 2027 Original Cover – Yumi Kitagishi: White Cat House

A6 Original Size

This is the Hobonichi Techos fourth collaboration with Yumi Kitagishi, an illustrator who has also been making a name for herself as a picture book author in recent years.

The Original-size White Cat House cover features a design that feels like youre peeking in on the tiny, adorable lives of a white cat and other small animals. The original illustration is based on the dollhouse theme that has become a hallmark of Kitagishis work. The artwork was painted in acrylic gouache and printed on a polyester material that vividly captures the original colors and texture.

What makes Kitagishis work so fascinating is that its endlessly adorable, no matter which corner you zoom in on. Lovable motifs are scattered throughout, such as the animals who live in the house; the wallpaper, furniture, and other interior decor; and even the dishes and small accessories on the tabletop. Every time you look, youll find something new to delight in.

In contrast to the vibrant, red-based design on the front, the inner surface where the book slides in is designed to resemble fresh, pale green wallpaper. The right-side pocket features a white cat playing with a dollhouse. The butterfly-stopper pen holders are designed in the style of Tyrolean tape adorned with delicate flowers, and the bookmark is a simple ribbon.

A row of windows of different shapes lines the back of the cover. Peek inside the pocket, and youll discover a delightful surprise you can see the rooms within the windows.

We also offer ballpoint pens, clips, and other stationery items and accessories by Yumi Kitagishi that pair beautifully with her covers and techos.

Tucked into a corner of the cover is a quiet little message: HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY.

The days you spend with this cover by your side are sure to be filled with the same warmth and wonder felt by a white cat gazing happily into a dollhouse.
