Why black and gold endures

Black and gold is the original fountain pen combination, and for good reason. It suits every occasion, from signing documents to writing a heartfelt letter, and it never goes out of style.

Japanese precision

Sailor has been making pens in Japan since 1911 and is especially admired for its nibs. The steel nib on the Casual Stable offers precise control and the subtle feedback many writers love.

Everyday dependable

• A secure screw cap that keeps ink from drying out
• A balanced 1911L body for comfortable long writing sessions
• Cartridge or converter filling for convenience or bottled ink

A great first Sailor

If you have wanted to try a Sailor without stepping straight up to a gold nib, the Casual Stable is an excellent place to start.

Perfect pairings

Sailor Kiwa-guro pigment black ink creates a deep, permanent black line. For a softer graphite tone, try Pilot Iroshizuku Take-sumi.
