The Sailor Professional Gear Slim Celestial Outflow fountain pen takes one of Japan’s most admired fountain pens and gives it a galaxy-inspired look: a deep black resin body with bright rhodium-plated trim. Underneath the style is what Sailor is famous for, a hand-finished 14K gold nib that makes every line a pleasure. For anyone searching for a Japanese gold nib fountain pen in a compact size, the PG Slim is a classic choice.

The Sailor Professional Gear, in a slimmer size

The Professional Gear (often called the “Pro Gear” or “PG”) is recognisable by its flat-topped ends and balanced proportions. The Slim version is smaller and lighter: 123.3mm capped, 142.1mm posted, 12mm in diameter and just 18g (8g cap, 10g barrel). It’s a superb pocket pen and a great fit for smaller hands, and it posts securely if you want extra length.

Sailor’s 14K gold nib

Sailor nibs are some of the most respected in the fountain pen world. The 14K gold nib on the PG Slim has a gentle springiness and a slight, pencil-like feedback that gives you precise control. Remember that Japanese nib sizes run finer than European ones, so a Sailor Fine writes quite a bit finer than a European Fine.

Cartridge and converter included

The pen fills by cartridge or converter, and both come in the box. A Sailor cartridge holds about 1.19ml, and the converter about 0.68ml for use with bottled ink. Sailor uses its own cartridge fitting, so choose Sailor cartridges when you restock. A secure screw cap keeps the nib from drying out.
